Cwmgwrach have called the games off due to a frozen pitch. Sorry everyone! ![]()
We are both playing away, KO for the U8’s is 10:30 u10′ at 11am. So we need to meet on the square for 10. As far as we know the games are still on, but have been moved to the school field, not the rugby club ground. It is a case of watch this space, if they cancel we will try to let you know in time, and will post here immediately.
Sorry about this everyone, just too wet. I will try and let everyone know, but if you can help that will be great.
Unfortunately todays matches against banwen have been cancelled after a call from Ian of banwen saying they wouldn’t be attending. Such a shame, but unfortunately nothing we can do, it was their call.
Sunday 28th, our game against Hirwaun is a 10:30 KO, so make sure you get your backsides out of bed early, don’t put cbeebies on and fall asleep, but get to the clubhouse for 10am. Tell all your friends to come along as well.
The eargerly awaited first game for the under 8`s kicked off with a well deserved win against Cwmgwarch. Fielding a side with some youngsters new to the game of Rugby, the 8`s went one down early on, but they rallied and Nat Rees scored a try to level. The game then really opened up and the large crowd were treated to a pulsating match which saw the lead change a further 7 times. New boy Bradley Roderick ran in the next, for Resolven, Nat added a further 5 tries, then another new boy, Lewis Ridge scored the last try, invoking memories of his father`s blistering pace to see them run out winners by 8 tries to six. Thanks very much to all who contributed to this match, Bradley, Lewis, Jack, Benjamin, Declan, Nat and Leon. Special thanks to Jonah for refereeing at short notice.
Our Under 10’s played their first home game this season on Sunday 14th Sept, and everyone was looking forward to it. It was an early KO (10:30) and everyone arrived on time (Thanks).
Cimla were fast and well drilled, but our defence held them out in the first half & they us. Half time finished 0-0.
The second half saw some great play in attack and defence by both sides, but Cimla eventually ran in three tries, converting none of them. In reply Resolven scored a try through player of the week Jordan halfpenny. The try was converted by Nat Rees, and the match finished 7-15. Well done to everyone who took part, watched supported cooked and fed the players.
We are playing at home this weekend against Cimla.
This fixture will kick off as close to 10:30 as possible. Our U13’s are playing at home as well, and they want to kick off at 11:00 so can we all be there for 10:15 and ready to play.
Our under 10’s started their season with a difficult fixture playing a round robin at Banwen against Banwen and Seven Sisters.
Thankfully the rain held off, and although it was cold all the teams involved managed to play some good open rugby, with some quality tries scored.
Our first game was against Banwen who are a well drilled team and their experience showed. This being our first step up to 40 minutes, and without being able to train we really expected to struggle with the difficulties of scrums, line-outs and all the other rule changes. However, our fears were not born out, and the feeling after the matches was that our players did exceptionally well, and although losing both matches, they played with total commitment and passion, and made all the parents and officials proud of them.
Once this team get some coaching on the technical aspects of the new laws, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
There really were some stand out performances today and those players know who they are. After the game, parents and coaches were overjoyed at the way their players (and of course children) had played.
Next game at home V Cimla Be at the club for 10:30, we will try to kick off at 11.
WELL DONE!
